December 15th: Pottaskefill

I don’t know how to tell you this but we have another licker on our hands: Pot Licker. Pot Licker is the fifth Yule Lad to come to town (tonight) and as the name suggest he’s into pots. These guys all have some very specific interests.

Pot Licker apparently is a weird one although I haven’t found anything that suggests why he’s any weirder than the rest of them. They all seem to have some issues to me. He would come and knock on people’s door to make them get up and open it while he would sneak into the kitchen to get to their pots. There he sat like Gollum with his ring and ate all the leftovers from the pot until there wasn’t even a bread crumb left. That’s how it happens in my head at least.

At this point I have given up hope that the Yule Lads are going to bring me some treats this year as none of them have swung by my house so far. I don’t think I’ve been noticeably naughty, I deserve at least a clementine, right?

Now that I think about it, if we would put all of the brothers together in one kitchen they’d be a somewhat efficient half troll half human dish washing machine. Each cleaning their own specific kitchen utensil category by licking it.

  1. I have just spent an amazing 4 nights in Reykjavik with my partner and have thoroughly enjoyed the tales of the Yule lads! I even bought the book!! We had a gift each morning on our hotel door from each Yule lad which was a lovely surprise! I would of loved to have stayed the 13 nights just to receive a gift!! Will definitely have to return next December!!
